I am wanting to make sure that I can drag n drop product accessories to certain areas of the main product depending on the accessory.

For example: on the main product (shoe) page the customer can bring up all the accessory products, drag or click an accessory and the accessory is only placed to its set location(s).

Maybe you could do this with design categories? Define a category for each accessory type, then the customer can add those to the product and drag them in place.
