Preparing Font Files

For the print-ready export, you can only use fonts that you set in the "Google Webfonts" and "Fonts Directory" in Settings > Fonts tab, because the PDF renderer needs the fonts as TTF files in order to embed the fonts in the PDF.

Custom Fonts

You can upload your own fonts with the "Custom Fonts Manager". Here you need to upload the regular font variant first and enter the exact name of the font family. You also need to consider the correct notation of the font, e.g. if you want to upload "Times New Roman" font. You have to enter "Times New Roman" and NOT "TIMES NEW ROMAN" or "Times New Roman Regular".

After that the font is uploaded and a new font set is created. Now you are able to upload the different font variants (bold, italic and bold-italic) for the newly created font set. You have to uploads these variants, if your customers can style the text with bold and italic, otherwise the print-ready export will not display the text with the selected font.

The uploaded fonts are stored in wp-content/uploads/fpd_fonts directory.

Google Webfonts

For Google Webfonts our application will automatically include the different variants of the selected fonts. If your customers can use bold and italic styles in the product designer, you also need to check that the selected Google Font has own bold (700), italic and bold-italic styles. Otherwise the correct font style will not be displayed.

Example for Lato font:

Special Fonts

Japanese Fonts

You can use all Google Web Fonts from here except of Noto fonts. Custom fonts with Japanese characters for the print-ready export can be found here.

Chinese Fonts

Currently, there is no known Google Web Font that works with the print-ready export. Custom fonts with Chinese characters can be found here.

Cyrillic Fonts

Google Web Fonts offer a wide range of Cyrillic fonts that are supported by the print-ready export.

Setting up View & Layers

First of all, you need to define a format for the view. Therefore go to Fancy Product Designer/ Product Builder / View Options and choose from predefined formats (A1, A2, ....) or enter a custom size in millimeter (mm).

After clicking the "Save" button, a red rectangle (printing box) will be added to the canvas.

This printing box can be scaled in the canvas to fit in the area that you want to export in the PDF.

If you do not define a format/printing box, the whole canvas will be exported in the PDF. To calculate the size in millimeter for the page, we use the canvas size in pixels and 300 DPI in the calculation (pixel / dpi * 25.4). We highly recommend choosing a format/printing box from the View Options.

If you want to exclude specific layers from export, you can easily do that by selecting the layer and enabling the option "Exclude in Export" in the General tab.

Exporting an order as PDF

You can see how to view your orders here.

Now when you receive an order, you can download the print-ready file via the Print-Ready Export tab.
