This PDF export service is only available via our ADMIN solution or as add-on for WordPress.

Preparing Font Files

For the print-ready export you can only use fonts that you set in the "Google Webfonts" and "Fonts Directory" in Settings > Fonts tab, because the PDF renderer needs the fonts as TTF files in order to embed the fonts in the PDF.

If you are allowing styles like Italic and Bold in the product designer, you also need to upload the TTF files for bold and italic into your fonts directory, when using custom fonts. So e.g. your regular font file in the fpd_fonts folder is Crimes.ttf, then you need to upload the styles for bold and italic in the fpd_fonts folder and name these files Crimes__italic.tff, Crimes__bold.ttf and for Semi-Bold Crimes__bolditalic.ttf.

For Google Webfonts you need to choose Fonts that have a Italic and 700 (bold) style.

Japanese Fonts

You can use all Google Web Fonts from here except of Noto fonts. Custom fonts with Japanese characters for the print-ready export can be found here.

Chinese Fonts

Currently there is no known Google Web Font that works with the print-ready export. Custom fonts with Chinese characters can be found here.

Cyrillic Fonts

Google Web Fonts offer a wide range of Cyrillic fonts that is supported by the print-ready export.

Setting up View & Layers

First of all you need to define a format for the view. Therefore go to the Product Builder and click View Options in the upper-right corner. Scroll to the "PDF Output" section and here you can choose from predefined formats (A1, A2,....) or enter a custom size in MM. After clicking the "Save" button, a blue rectangle (printing box) will be added to the canvas.

This printing box can be scaled in the canvas to fit in the area that you want to export in the PDF.

If you do not define a format/printing box, the whole canvas will be exported in the PDF. To calculate the size in millimeter for the page, we use the canvas size in pixels and 300 DPI in the calculation (pixel / dpi * 25.4). We highly recommend to choose a format/printing box from the View Options.

If you want to exclude specific layers from export, you can easily do that by selection the layer and enabling the option "Exclude in Export" in the General tab.

Exporting an order as PDF

Now when you receive an order, go to the Orders page in the ADMIN solution, select and view the order and click Download PDF button.
